ENFIELD SAFE HARBOR WARMING CENTER RECEIVES GRANT FROM ARCHBISHOP’S ANNUAL APPEAL

The Enfield Safe Harbor Warming Center received a check in the amount of $3,000 from the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal through its Vicariate Outreach Program.  This funding will help the Center expand its mission of providing a safe and warm place for our homeless residents in Enfield, Connecticut during the coldest times of the year.

“We are grateful to the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal for this continued show of support for our mission,” said Rosalind Swift, the Center’s Communications Chair.  “Many people assume that homelessness does not exist in our community.  It does.  Too many of our neighbors live on the streets or under other unsafe conditions.  Many others are one missed paycheck away from losing their housing.  Our mission is to meet their needs for a safe and warm place to rest, and ultimately to work to mitigate the problem of housing insecurity in our community.”

About the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal

Since 1981, the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal has been able to assist tens of thousands of people – regardless of race, religion, or color – across the Archdiocese of Hartford with healthcare, education, housing, emergency expenses, and in numerous other areas.  It is through the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal Vicariate Outreach Program and the generosity of its donors that the Appeal is able to assist a wide array of community-based charities throughout Hartford, New Haven, and Litchfield Counties.

Walmart’s generous donation will allow ESHWC to provide some of the items needed to operate our outreach and engagement center for our homeless residents of Enfield, Connecticut during the coldest times of the year, and will allow the organization to finish strong this year.
